Going off the tangent a bit here, but would like to take advantage and let off some steam, so please indulge me. The Great Western, Wethersthingys, Cardiff. For the sake of convenience, have been visiting one evening a week, for tea. This week my son ordered the vegetarian version of sausage and mash. The menu read, award winning sausages...red wine onion gravy...served with peas. Not expecting the award winning sausages, but what he got was a dollop of mash upon which sat 3 dry quorn sausages. Nothing else. No gravy. No peas. "No peas left, sorry." Then came the argie-bargie over gravy, which she wanted to charge us extra for??!! GGGGGRRRRRRR. They finally brought a boat of plain veggie gravy, by which time the food was cold! I know what you're thinking, "Why didnt we send it back?" Simple - for fear of something nasty in return! Well, you do hear these horror stories of chefs exacting revenge upon complaining customers, dont you. Ok, it's only Wethersthingys, and I really should know better, but this meal cost almost £7!!!! It's just not on really is it? Why is British service sooooo bad? Another complaint about this place is the fact the heating is always on, even on hot days. And the smell from the downstairs toilets is nauseating, as you approach from some distance! GROSS! Bet we could fill a forum with Wethersthingy delights, eh?
